I couldn’t continue to write about my favourite brands each week without mentioning La Coqueta.
One of, if not my all-time favourite kids labels to have a spend up on. If you’re not already familiar with La Coqueta, it’s the most beautiful nostalgic childrenswear. I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing and meeting the founder Celia Munoz several times, she is just the most charming lady. And a mother of five! Spanish born Celia created the label after being constantly complimented on her first daughters beautiful Spanish designed clothes while out and about in London (she lives in North London but is from a large Spanish family). She developed a passion for children’s fashion and so La Coqueta was born.
The clothes definitely aren’t cheap but compared to brands of a similar style they’re not ridiculously expensive either. And in fact, come the sales you can get some downright bargains. What they are is beautiful quality, timeless pieces. My daughter has several in her wardrobe and we’re forever complimented on them. Particularly the smock dresses, pretty collar blouses and skirts with frill braces that crossover at the back. The clothes are fancy enough to be for an occasion but actually work for day-to-day too. My daughter wears her current smock dress most weeks with ribbed knit tights and Chelsea boots. And her last blouse (which she’s just outgrown) often under denim dungarees. Pay per wear they’re actually great value for money. Or so it has worked out for us.
Every season Celia seems to get it spot on and create more swoon-worthy pieces, summer is no exception. Below is my edit of current favourites… though I did find it hard to choose. The boy’s collections are great to, as is the footwear selection but for me it’s the girl and baby girl pieces that really standout.
