Kids swimsuits, and indeed board shorts and rash vests have become a thing of beauty. These brands you might, or might not have heard of, have stepped it up a level and made the basics work harder in terms of detail, design and practicality. Yes, they have a more premium price tag BUT if your child is going to live in the sun, beach and splash parks this summer – or you have a great holiday planned – they’re worth it.

A friend and I were discussing recently how we like to buy our kids a more ‘special’ super cool or pretty swim set/shorts/suit for summer (because how long are they realistically going to let us dress them up for?) and then a more affordable high street steal (which yes, is often just as pretty, see my favourites here) for the local pool, swimming lessons etc…

My only issue is I LOVE them all so can’t decide where to start…

Belle Chiara

I love Belle Chiara footwear – handcrafted to order in Spain – the balletic collection is unique and beautiful. But I never realised they did swimwear, until now. It has the same dance inspiration as the shoes – ribbon ties, frill details, in beautiful dusky pinks and greens, earthy teal, burgundy and brown – all produced on request. Just the prettiest…

California brand Minnow is cool, pretty and polished. It looks premium at first glance. The soft pastel colours and easy, breezy styles are perfect in their effortless simplicity. I love how the boys board shorts also come in the delicate floral prints.

Bumby by Marysia

The mini version of the designer women’s swimwear brand Marysia. This collections oozes luxury. The colours, prints and patchwork styles are unique, high quality and I adore how playful the collection is.

Chic Italian swim label Folpetto is completely sun safe with eco-friendly UPF50+ fabric. Sold to be mixed and matched the soft pastel hues all work together and strong frill details are the main feature.

As recommended by Courtney Adamo in my recent interview (read here) this quite magical collection with frill and bow details (love bows at the moment, who doesn’t?) has a romantic, yet age appropriate vibe. The colour combinations are a dream too. The brand are big believers in sustainability so all the swimwear if made from recycled fibre and certified UPF50+ too.
