I love discovering new brands that fit with my aesthetic. It gives me actual goosebumps! I was thrilled to hear from the lovely Nicole at Papouelli last week who got in touch as she thought I might like their shoes. She was right…
Now Papouelli aren’t actually a new brand – they’re very much established and have been for 12 years (in fact they’re a favourite with the royals – Prince George and Princess Charlotte are both regularly spotted in their shoes) and have three London shops as well as selling online… they’re just new to me.
After we spoke I spent a while perusing the site – I thought the shoes might be super expensive given the royal fan club, high quality and premium styles but was delighted to find they’re not too much more than the usual higher end of the high street shoe haunts.
There are a lot of pairs I love (see my edit below). But I’ll just talk you through a few…
The more traditional, formal styles are timeless and chic but I love the leopard print versions! I’d like a version of the Dollie with an ankle strap in my size (above).
The high summer selection is perfect – canvas shoes in every shade of my favoured muted pastel palette – including a beige, khaki style slip-on for slightly older kids (the Delany). It’s effortlessly cool. There’s also a monogramming option available. Who doesn’t love a bit of monogramming?
And then the sandals – my favourites. My ideal kids sandals are timeless in style and can be worn day or evening, for playdates or parties. They also look good with a sock for not so perfect weather. I’m happy to spend money on great quality footwear as I know how important it is. Especially for younger children. But I like the look of them to reflect the price. Papouelli‘s shoes fit this brief. The Porter is my favourite for boys/unisex. And I love Betty in tan leather and the Armandine in rose gold for my daughter.
